These client purchased a site in Portugal and he intends to build a house for his retirement.
The brief consisted on a single storey house, with 2 bedrooms and an open space kitchen / dining / Living.
The proposal seeks to use local materials and construction techniques. The site is steep and has an irregular shape. The new house will sit in the same place where are the ruins of an existing one, with roughly the same footprint. A stone embasement is used to compensate the heights level, creating balconies to the garden and the sun. The volume is divided in the two main parts, a higher one where the social use takes place, and the lower one, for the bedrooms and kitchen.
