Forest Platform Boardwalk

The brief was to develop a conceptual scheme for a forest platform and a pedestrian footpath. The site, of an outstanding natural beauty, could be divided into several different areas, according to the topography, views and vegetation. Starting with a high level, punctuated by very tall trees, sloping down to the lake, with a more sparse vegetation and a more human scale. A belvedere was proposed on the higher levels, through the treetops, for the views. From there starts an organic pedestrian boardwalk with strategic areas of pause, with benches and relevant information, following the existing topography, towards the lake, where it continues in a broken circular shape, towards the vantage point.
